Bills schedule leaks, rumors and release tracker: Prime-time games and a Stefon Diggs reunion (2024)

One of the most eagerly awaited weeks on the NFL calendar is upon us as the league is set to release its schedule Wednesday night.

Before all of the games are made public during a live 8 p.m. broadcast on NFL Network, several will be known before then because the league will be announcing various matchups Monday and Tuesday, while others will leak out through media sources.

For the Buffalo Bills, we know they will play eight games at Highmark Stadium and nine on the road, and they will not be a part of any of the five international games this season because they just played in London last year.

Keep this page bookmarked because we'll be updating the schedule each time we learn of a game being announced or confirmed.

Bills vs Texans with a Stefon Diggs reunion in Week 5

Buffalo will play three of last season's playoff teams in the first five weeks of the season. The Bills have a road game against the upstart Houston Texans in Week 5 on Sunday, Oct. 6, according to Will Kunkel of FOX 26 in Houston. The Texans are the defending AFC South champions.

It'll be a reunion with former Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs, who Buffalo traded to Houston in April.

Bills vs Rams in Los Angeles in December? Looking like it

The pieces continue to get filled in, at least via schedule leaks from various Twitter/X accounts, and NFL Schedule Update claims to have the entire Rams schedule figured out.

It shows a Week 14 game, which, if it is played Sunday, would be on Dec. 8 and would likely be a 4:25 start, though that is not confirmed.

Bills vs Lions in Detroit may be played Week 15

The Bills will not be the Lions' Thanksgiving opponent this season as they were in 2022. Instead, according to the Twitter/X account Lion King, which reports that it has the full Lions' schedule figured out, the Bills will be at Ford Field in Week 15, which could mean Sunday, Dec. 15.

Week 11 could be Bills vs Chiefs

NFL Insider Jordan Schultz is reporting that the Chiefs' visit to Buffalo will occur in Week 11, and will be a 4:25 p.m. CBS game which would put it on Nov. 10.

Again, these are not confirmed by the NFL or the teams, but this one - seeing as it already has a day, time, and network - seems pretty likely.

Rumors indicate Ravens, Seahawks games are set

According to the Twitter/X feed NFL Schedule Update, two more Bills games could be slotted.

In Week 4, the site has the Bills traveling to Baltimore to play the AFC North champion Ravens, though no day has been set. If that's the proper week, that Sunday is Sept. 29.

And then in Week 8, the site has the Bills going to Seattle to play the Seahawks. That Sunday is Oct. 27.

Both Bills vs Dolphins 2024 games may be set

Matt Warren of SB Nation has the back half of the Buffalo-Miami series happening in Week 9, which would be the weekend of Nov. 3. There is no day attached to the report, but this would wrap things up with the Dolphins as the teams are already officially confirmed by the league to be playing in Week 2 on Thursday Night Football.

Two Bills vs Jets 2024 games seem to be in place

According to Matt O'Leary who is the host of a New York Jets podcast and someone who has a pretty reliable source when it comes to that team's schedule, the two games against the Bills will come in Weeks 6 and 17.

The Week 6 game, according to O'Leary, will be played Oct. 14 on Monday Night Football, meaning this is the second straight season the Bills will bet at MetLife for a Monday. Maybe this time Aaron Rodgers will play more than four plays.

The game in Buffalo is reportedly going to be Sunday, Dec. 29 at Highmark Stadium. If true, that means the Bills will not be playing on Christmas Day which had been a rumor in the last couple weeks.

Also, with the Jets rumored to be closing the season in Week 18 against Miami, that would mean the Bills will, in all likelihood, be playing the Patriots in their last game because the NFL prefers in-division matchups in Week 18.

First Bills rumor: Sunday Night Football game vs 49ers could be coming

Tyler Dunne, who writes a terrific Substack publication entitled Go Long, is reporting that the Bills could be host the defending NFC champion San Francisco 49ers in a Week 13 showdown on NBC's Sunday Night Football.

If both the Bills and 49ers perform as expected, that will be a huge game for both teams, even though they play in different conferences. If this report proves true, that means the Bills will not be playing in Detroit on Thanksgiving Day.

Full NFL international schedule finalized

The first of five international games will be played Friday, Sept. 1 when the Eagles play host to the Packers in Sao Paulo, Brazil, the first time the NFL has gone there. The game starts at 8:15 and will be telecast on Peacock.

In Week 5, the Vikings host the Jets on Oct. 5 at London's Hottenspur Stadium for a 9:30 kickoff on NFL Network.

In Week 6, the Jaguars begin their two-week stay in London when they will be the visiting team Oct. 13 against the Bears at Hottenspur. This is the game the Bills played in last year. It's also a 9:30 a.m. game on NFL Network. The following week, on Oct. 20, the Jaguars are back in their home away from home, Wembley Stadium, to host the Patriots, another 9:30 NFL Network game.

Finally, in Week 10, the Panthers will host the Giants on Nov. 10 at Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany. The Nov. 10 game will be a 9:30 start on NFL Network.

Buffalo Bills will play two Monday Night Football games in 2024, Joe Buck says

During an interview on Good Morning America this morning, ESPN sportscaster Joe Buck said the Bills will play twice on Monday nights during the 2024 season. That means the Buffalo will play at least three games during prime time as their Thursday night game in Week 2 has already been announced.

Buffalo Bills will play Miami Dolphins in Week 2 on Thursday Night Football

The first Bills game confirmed on the 2024 schedule will feature a road test at Miami in Week 2 which will be the first game on Amazon Prime's Thursday night schedule. The Sept. 12 game will start at 8:15 p.m. at Hard Rock Stadium.

The Bills beat the Dolphins in the 2023 season finale 21-14 to clinch their fourth straight AFC East division crown. They have also won 13 of the last 16 games against their division rival counting the postseason.

As for the season opener, it's probably a pretty good bet that the Bills will be at Highmark Stadium, and probably for a 1 p.m. kickoff given their short week heading into Miami. With the Jets already locked in for a Monday night opener against the 49ers, there's a good chance the Patriots and new coach Jerod Mayo could be lined up to open their new post-Bill Belichick era in Buffalo.

More Buffalo Bills news

Aaron Rodgers back in the Week 1 spotlight

The NFL has announced that Rodgers and the Jets, for the second year in a row, will open their season in the first Monday Night game, this time hosting the San Francisco 49ers on Sept. 9 at 8:20 on ESPN.

Last year, of course, the Jets hosted the Bills and Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles' on his fourth play and was lost for the season. The Jets shook that off and defeated the Bills 22-16 on a walk-off punt return touchdown in overtime.

NFL season opener features Ravens at Chiefs

Monday morning, the league announced that opening night will take place Thursday, Sept. 5 as the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs will host the Baltimore Ravens at Arrowhead Stadium in an AFC Championship Game rematch. The game will be broadcast on NBC and Peacock.

This is a huge matchup between two teams who figure to be right in the thick of the AFC race in 2024, and Baltimore and Lamar Jackson will certainly have plenty to prove after the terrible offensive performance they put forth in losing at home 17-10 to the Chiefs last January.

Tuesday morning, it was announced that the Chiefs will stay in the AFC North for Week 2 when they host the Cincinnati Bengals, so that's quite a difficult start for the defending champs, though playing at home twice certainly helps.

Tom Brady to make FOX debut in Cleveland

Monday night, FOX announced that it's new lead analyst, the former Patriots and Buccaneers quarterback, will call his first game in Cleveland on Sunday, Sept. 8 when the Browns host the Dallas Cowboys at 4:25 p.m.

Brady is taking over for Greg Olsen in the seat next to play-by-play man Kevin Burkhard as he begins his staggering $375 million contract which he signed in 2023. Brady sat out last year to prepare for his new job.
